Nottinghamshire is a county in the East Midlands of England, bordering South Yorkshire to the north-west, Lincolnshire to the east, Leicestershire to the south, and Derbyshire to the west. The traditional county town is Nottingham, though the county council is based in West Bridgford in the borough of Rushcliffe, at a site facing Nottingham over the River Trent.
The regional economy was traditionally based on industries such as coal mining in the Leen Valley and manufacturing. The coal deposits in the county are thick, with some measuring up to 900 metres thick. There is also an oilfield in Eakring, near Newark-on-Trent, Since the invention of the knitting frame by local William Lee, the county, in particular Nottingham, became synonymous with the lace industry.
The famed author DH Lawrence was born in Eastwood while Lord Byron lived in Newstead Abbey.
There are several market towns in the area, including Mansfield, Worksop, Hucknall, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Retford. Worksop dates from Anglo-Saxon times and grew rapidly with the arrival of coals and discovery of coal in the vicinity.
The M1 is the only motorway in the area, which passes through the far west of the county but a good network of A roads make it relatively easy for us to get to other places in Nottinghamshire. Our drivers are often out and about in the county, with recent deliveries being made to Beeston, Bracebridge, Bulwell, Carlton, Cotgrave, Kilton, Kimberley, Netherfield, Ollerton, Southwell, Stapleford, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Warsop. Some of the items we deliver include:
Weddings are supposed to be a huge celebration of love between the happy couple. They are meant to be remembered for the right reasons. The bride’s beautiful dress, the elegant setting and the amazing food at the reception. The very last thing we want to happen is for a wedding to be ruined by dirty table linen, broken plates or a lack of glasses.
We live in an era where it’s common for people to want to get the most for the money they spend on their wedding. Our aim is to offer our customers a one-stop shop for everything they might need from crockery to linen, and cutlery to furniture. All of our prices are listed online, so that it’s possible to see exactly how much the wedding hire you need will cost without having to worry about getting quotes.
Linen is an important part of the theme for all kinds of events. We stock linen in a wide variety of colours, shapes and sizes to ensure we can do our best to help you.
We offer linen in a variety of different colours. It might be that you want a tablecloth so your tables match a particular aesthetic, or that you want to use table runners to just add a detail of colour to your table. We have the stock available so that whatever you choose, we can help.
Knives, forks and spoons are among the cheaper of the items we offer at Midland Catering and Event Hire. However, while they’re not glamourous, they’re an integral part of our business and the journey we have undertaken. With five different ranges of cutlery always in stock we have literally thousands of pieces of cutlery always ready for hire.
Cutlery isn’t just about forks and spoons though. We offer speciality knives and pieces of cutlery equipment to make serving at your event or special occasion easier. Whether you’re cutting cheese, meat or even a wedding cake, we’ve got the knife you need for the job.
If washing up isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Our “send it back dirty service” means you can scrape your cutlery, put it back in the packing crates and leave it for us to handle back at our warehouse. It certainly beats washing spoons up until the early hours of the morning!
